Associate, Emerging and Foundation Artist Programme
Nevill Holt Opera has been committed since it began to casting the best emerging operatic talent on its stage. We work almost exclusively with young artists who are either still at music college (Emerging Artists) or who are breaking into the opera industry (Associate Artists). NHO provides the perfect opportunity to hear these fantastic young artists in an intimate setting before their careers take them to bigger opera houses around the world.
Since 2013 we have worked with over 160 young singers, offering them vital experience of life in a professional opera company. We are the only opera company of our kind which is committed to casting young singers in mainstage solo roles, providing opportunities for the most talented young singers to make essential role debuts.
As a result of our commitment to nurturing the best new operatic talent, NHO has developed a place where audiences can ‘take a seat in front of future stars’ (The Times). Singers from past NHO productions can now be seen on the main stage at the Royal Opera House, English National Opera, and at leading opera hosues around the world.

With an increasing programme of year-round work, NHO offers a growing number of professional opportunities to young singers and talented creative artists entering the profession at a vital stage in their development and career path. We combine performances in our summer opera festival with a programme of coaching, masterclasses, movement and language development.
NHO sends its Associate Artists to work in schools across the East Midlands, using its young artists as advocates to inspire a new generation with the power and potential of the creative arts.
