Nevill Holt Opera is holding auditions on 22nd September in London for Associate Artists and Emerging Artists for the 2023 season. These positions provide invaluable experience and opportunities for singers at the beginning of their opera careers in an award-winning opera company. The positions also involve education work and participation in our concerts and events from November 2022 to July 2023. Our operas for the 2023 season include:
A double bill of Pagliacci by Leoncavallo and Gianni Schicchi by Puccini
(outside dates: 24 April – 11 June)
La Cenerentola by Rossini
(outside dates: 8 May – 25 June)

Associate Artist – Nevill Holt Opera’s Associate Artists are singers at postgraduate level, currently at opera school as well as recent graduates. As well as performing in the chorus, Associate Artists will also be considered for named and cover roles.
Emerging Artist – Nevill Holt Opera’s Emerging Artists are singers at undergraduate level, currently attending music conservatoire. Emerging Artists will perform in the NHO chorus.

2022/23 Opportunities
Associate and Emerging Artist Sopranos and Mezzo Sopranos for 2022/23 will take part in the chorus of Pagliacci. Including the chorus in Pagliacci, two artists will be also cast in small roles across the season:
– The same Soprano Associate Artist will be cast in the role of Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi and Clorinda in La Cenerentola
– The same Mezzo Associate Artist will be cast as La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi and Tisbe in La Cenerentola.
Associate and Emerging Artist Tenors will take part in the chorus of Pagliacci and La Cenerentola.
Associate and Emerging Artist Basses will take part in the chorus Pagliacci and La Cenerentola. Associate Artist basses will be considered for the following roles in Gianni Schicchi: Ser Amantio di Nicolao; Maestro Spinellocchio; Pinellino; Guccio.
Both Associate and Emerging Artists will also be asked to join our winter performances of Handel’s Messiah on 3rd and 4th December, 2022.
Auditions will take place on 22nd September in central London. If your application is successful, you will be invited to an audition. You may wish to prepare arias from our 2023 productions; Pagliacci, Gianni Schicchi and La Cenerentola, or similar repertoire.
